3 Day Arizona -- 2006

Meet Team

"SOLE POWER"

and

"Marcy's Sole Power"

“Come to the edge.”
“We can't. We're afraid.”
“Come to the edge.”
“We can't. We will fall!”
“Come to the edge.”
And they came.
And (s)he pushed them.
And they flew.

by French poet and philosopher Guillaume Apollinaire

Race for the Cure, Seattle -- 2011

2005 was our first year walking and crewing for the Susan G. Komen 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk. In that year we walked in Seattle and crewed in Phoenix. Our team, Sole Power, was small but "mighty"!!

In 2006, we walked and crewed again. This time adding good friends, Marcy K. & Gary K., to our crew team in Phoenix.

In 2007, we crewed for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in Washington DC and for the Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk in both Phoenix & San Diego. 2007 was a busy year.

Also in 2007 we added a 1935 PINK Ford truck to our "team". We took "Pretty -n- Pink" to car shows and the 3 Day this year to bring attention and raise awareness about breast cancer in our community! We got lots of looks and personal stories of great courage from survivors & their families!

In 2008 we walked and crewed for the 3 Day. We lost our good friend Marcy in April to her 16 year battle with breast cancer. We formed our first team, Marcy's Sole Power, for the Race for the Cure to celebrate her life.

2009 was another great year for our team! We added new team members & really enjoyed walking with them. It was our 5th year walking and crewing for the Breast Cancer 3 Day ! Our team walked in the Breast Cancer 3 Day in Seattle, crewed in Phoenix and volunteered in Atlanta. We also walked in The Race for the Cure in Seattle and again dedicated our walk to our dear friend Marcy. She was such a fighter and so must we be until we find a cure!

In 2010, we walked in Seattle for our 6th year and crewed in Arizona also for our 6th year. We also volunteered in San Francisco leading a wonderful "young" group of women at the closing ceremony hydration tent. Great job Ladies!!! In June, our Marcy's Sole Power team took to the streets of Seattle to walk the Race for the Cure for our 3rd year! We dedicate this walk to our friend Marcy K. who lost her battle in 2008.

2011 was another great year! We had both walkers and crew members on our team. We participated in Seattle and Arizona walks. We volunteered for "Get Started" meetings in our local area to support and mentor new walkers and crew. Our team had great support this year from our community. A local gym had a Breast Cancer fitness event. The local Harley Davidson dealer hosted a BBQ for our team. And a local coffee shop let us do a "stuff the bra" fundraiser at their shop! Fun stuff!! And we raised more than our minimum!!!

So here we are in 2012 already! We are planning our first training walks and getting our fundraising events lined up too!

Every year we walk and crew carrying the names of our survivors who we celebrate and the names of those loved ones who have lost their battle with beast cancer. Last year our team carried 31 names on our journey. We carried names of frends, Mothers, Aunts, and Grandmothers. Those women who are celebrating years of surviving breast cancer and those who lost their battle much too early.

Help us fight this battle! Walk! Crew! Donate!
